COMMISSIONED PAINTINGS – HOW TO’S – RETURNS
Frequently asked
Buying art online can be tricky, there are a lot of “what if’s”.
My aim is to give you transparency and clarity with these answers on frequently asked questions that people have asked me in the past when they were in the process of buying my paintings online.
WHAT ARE YOUR PAINTINGS MADE FROM?
I use artist quality acrylic paint on canvas that is composed of linen and cotton.
This canvas comes especially prepared for acrylic paint.
It has a big grain (visible weaving of the strings) for it gives this “painterly” texture underneath the colors.
My paintings are stretched on wooden frames.
WE ARE NOT SURE HOW IT WILL LOOK AT HOME, CAN YOU HELP US?
If you are not sure if the painting will fit nicely at the designated spot in your space,
send me a photo and the measurements (hight of the ceiling, width of the furniture present) and I will make a virtual image of how the painting will look there with the right dimentions.
Email me about this.
Is all of your work present on this platform?
I have been painting since 2005. Not all of my art is represented here.
This website aims to offer a selection of my artworks available for all types of budgets.
Ask me if you have a certain work in mind,
or a specific style or color, I might have something just right for you available from my studio, or at one of the galleries that I work with.
Are your prices lower on this website than on the platforms?
My art is being sold through different types of channels: directly from the studio, at art fairs, from online galleries and through brick and mortar galleries.
They all handle the same price range.
If you want to save money, buying more than 1 painting is an option, so you save on shipping.
Can I commission you to make a personalized painting?
People love to have their portraits painted.
And I love to do commissions, it’s usually a fun challenge to translate your ideas into my visual language.
Let me hear via email what you have in mind.
Please add photos to give me visual information.
Commission payments:
30% deposit upfront when the commission is agreed.
I will start with the preliminary sketches from the photos you send.
The next 40% is expected when you give the green light to start the actual paining,
based on the preliminary sketch and the color scheme.
The final 40% is due upon completion.
You are entitled to ask for 3 adjustments.
In case you don’t like the final result, you are entitled to not fulfill the last 40% and the painting stays with the artist.
(this has never happened, though)
How do you send your paintings?
Usually my paintings are send “ready to hang”.
This means there are hooks and wire on the back installed.
NOTE: All my acrylic paintings are painted on the flanks, where the canvas wraps around the stretchers as well.
This results in a beautiful object from any perspective and framing is optional, not strictly necessary.
If a painting is framed, it will say so clearly in the text and photos.
If for some reason the buyer prefers the painting to be send rolled up,
they can communicate this so this can be arranged at my studio.
Payment options:
1 Cash, debit/credit card, PayPal or bank transfer
2. Lay buy: 20% downpayment, 3 to 6 monthly payments.

Shipping and delivery:
I personally do the packaging.
I make sure to make a very safe packaging with layers of styrofoam inner linings, archival acid free paper to protect the painting, triple cardboard or a wooden crate for the outer part.
Where I can, I will be re-using materials in order to make the shipping a sustainable issue for this planet.
if you happen to live within 300km from Barcelona city, I am very happy to bring your painting personally!
CUSTOMS: if your country raises taxes over importing contemporary art
(some countries do, some don’t), you will be expected to fulfill these duties.
Insurance during shipping:
All paintings are sent fully insured.
In case of outer damage, let the courier make a note.
Send me photos of the damage to the box and to the painting.
Let me know as soon as possible and we¡ll work out a way to get you the painting as you wanted it.
RETURNS
if within 7 days of receiving your artwork you discover that you don’t really get along,
just let Me know and we will make arrangements to swap the painting or give you a refund.
This is incredibly rare that this happens, but I understand.
You are responsable for the return shipping.
Finally, all works come with a Certificate of Authenticity and free hugs and good-karma points!
