Let’s clarify

Frequently asked questions

 commissioned paintings – How to’s – returns

Buying art online can be tricky, there are a lot of "what if"-s.

My aim is to give you transparency and clarity with these answers on frequently asked questions that people in the past have asked when they were in the process of buying my paintings online.

What are your paintings made from:?

I use artist quality acrylic paint on a big grain canvas (mixed linen and cotton) that is wrapped around wooden frames.
Some of these frames are wide (3 cm or more) others are thin, though never less than 2 cm.
I love big grain, for it gives this “painterly” texture underneath the colors.

We are not sure how it will look at home, can you help us??

if you are not sure if the painting will fit nicely at the designated spot in your space,
send me a photo and the measurements (hight of the ceiling, width of the furniture present) and I will make a speedy photoshopped view of it.
Email me about this.

Is all of your work present on this platform?

My body of art is much, much larger than what is presented here. This channel aims to offer a selection of my artworks available for all types of budgets.
Ask me if you have a work in mind that is not listed here,
it might be available at one of the galleries I work with

Are your prices lower on this website?

My art is being sold through different types of channels: directly from the studio, at art fairs, from online galleries and through brick and mortar galleries.
They all handle the same price range.
A clever way of saving money is buying more than 1 painting, so that they can be shipped together.

Can I commission you to make a personalized painting?

People love to have their portraits painted.
And I love to do commissions, it’s usually a fun challenge to translate your ideas into my visual language.
Let me hear what you have in mind via email.
Please add photos to give me some visual information.

Payment: 30% deposit upfront, I will start with the preliminary sketches from the photos you send.  The next 40% is expected when you give the green light to start the actual painting based on the preliminary sketch and the color scheme . The final 40% upon completion.
You are entitled to ask for 3 adjustments.
In the case you don’t like the final, final, final result, you are entitled to not fulfill the last 40% and the painting stays with the artist. (This has never happened, though)

How do you send your paintings?

Usually my paintings are send “ready to hang”.
All my acrylic paintings are painted on the flanks where the canvas wraps around the stretchers so no aditional framing is strickly necessary.

Most paintings can be send stretched, yet
you might prefer them to be send rolled up.
Sending rolled up in a stern PVC tube is cheaper and safer  then sending a stretched painting.

the downside is that you will need to go to a stretcher in your area.
Most art supply stores do these services that aren’t that expensive.

Shipping and delivery:

Shipping is included in the price you see.
I personally do the packaging. Where I can I will be re-using materials in order to make the shipping more sustainable for this planet.
On the other hand, my first goal is that the artwork reaches you safe and sound.
For this, I source the best materials: styrofoam inner linings, archival acid free paper to protect the painting, triple cardboard for medium paintings or a wooden crate for the larger paintings.
If you happen to live within 300km, I am very happy to bring your artwork personally!

Customs: if your country raises taxes over importing contemporary art (some do, some don’t) you will be expected to fulfill them.
